The chorus is so basic it could have been written by anyone about anyone. Taylor doesn't have a solo writing credit (as with the majority of the album) so that straight away should sound alarm bells. It very easily could have been a Max Martin concept he pitched to Katy, she rejected it, then when he was brought in for 1989 he pitched it to Taylor and she felt it was appropriate given her relationship with Katy and then went from there. You can't expect a country songwriter to write 100% of her pop album. She definitely got more than a helping hand from her collaborators. I mean it's clear to see the difference between songs that Max had a part in such as the singles and songs like This Love and Clean.

It seems weird for me because why would max suggest this to Katy and then let Taylor make this about Katy, he is in good relationship with both, I believe Bad Blood was Tay's idea
