Okay since I am hooked on this album, I decided to also (pre-)order the boxset, also already pre-ordered the Japanese version, so let Kelly get my coins

Human rights anthem of our generation
Quote:
On one of the album's first few tracks, "I Have a Dream," you outline this dichotomy that exists between expectations and reality and how our generation seems to be disappointing to you. What about today's cultural landscape made you write about that?
When I was writing this song — well first of all, I was very hormonal — I was sitting around and talking with some of my friends, and we were all talking about how I just expected more of our generation. I just expected us, first of all, to be past "Gay, straight, black, and white." Like, who cares? Are we still talking about this? We should just have equal rights across the board for every person no matter what you look like, no matter who you like. I don't understand why we're still struggling with these basic, asinine issues. It bothers me. So I ended up writing this whole song about it and I had a dream that we were more. That's where the chorus came from. I thought as a kid, I just remember being that ten-year-old girl going, "I can't wait to change the world." You dream big when you're little. I guess I look at our generation and we're still talking about the same stuff. That's sad.

I've been listening to the album for the past 3 days and it's amazing. I almost cannot rank the songs. But I'm trying to rate them now:
Heartbeat Song (4/5): Loved it at first, but got old really quick. However, I still think it was a good choice and it will achieve some more success and will have done fine in the end, saleswise.
Invincible (4,5/5): The obvious single choice and the best song vocally, however something is missing for me to make it into my Kelly-Wall-of-fame.
Someone (4,5/5): The text and its production are everything. It sure isn't single material but it's a stellar performance of Kellys' emotional voice.
Take you high (5/5): I was shocked at first listen, but this song is amazing. Haven't heard anything like it. The vocals in the last chorus slay my life.
Piece by piece (4,5/5): stuck in my head for days and I know that I'll love this song forever.
Run Run Run (4/5): the TH-crap is already annoying me and taking the love for this song completely away. And apart from the harmonies I don't like John's voice on here.
I had a dream (5/5): Don't get the hate for this song. one of the best she's ever written and the melody is just fine. Reminds me of One republic-songs.
Let your tears fall (5/5): Love this. So different and so not-Sia.
Tightrope(4/5): This is cute aswell, but not what I want from Kelly, especially not in the middle of the record. When I'm in the mood for songs like this, I will love it.
War paint (4,5/5): The song I was most excited for when I first read the lyrics. Can't keep up with my expectation but will grow on me even more.
Dance with me (3,5/5): Am I the only one who gets Abba-teas from this?? It will grow on me but I currently can't stand listening to it very often.
Nostalgic (5/5): My absolute favourite. It's sassy and melancholic, I love it. It's the nearest thing to Stronger tough.
Good goes the bye (5/5): Already loved the demo, but this is even better.
Bad repuation (5/5): Love this since it was on radio yesterday. The vocals give me My december-teas.
In the blue (4/5): Somehow I don't like her voice in this. But the song is an A.
Second wind (4,5/5): Couldn't get into this for some reason, but once I do, I will be slayed.
72/80 = A-
Single choices are difficult tough. Since I hope we get 5 singles, which is the ideal amount of singles pro era (At least it was 10 years ago. I don't understand why everything is kept so short these days):
1. Heartbeat Song
2. Invincible
3. Take you high
4. Piece by Piece
5. Run Run Run

Theres such a change in from when I first listened to the album, which was not good, to like 10-15 times later, I was practically falling in love with most of the tracks. Also to mention I usually hate ballad-y focused albums. It really is such a solid album. The lyrics are great and kellys esquisite voice with emotional impact is undeniable. A solid 8.5 for me.

It's in my anti-trinity This would be as successful as a single as it would be if she added "Thankful" as a bonus track and released it as a single.

Tightrope is in my top 5, and I Had a Dream is also one of my absolute favorites. IDC what y'all say, those two are flawless.
And I still stand by this single order, after living with the album for a few days now:
2. Invincible
3. Take You High
4. Run Run Run
5. Let Your Tears Fall

Good: Invincible, Piece by Piece, Let Your Tears Fall, War Paint, Nostalgic, Bad Reputation
Eh: Heartbeat Song, Someone, Run Run Run, I Had a Dream, Dance with Me, Good Goes the Bye, Second Wind
Bad: Take You High, Tightrope, In the Blue
My highlights: Piece by Piece, Nostalgic, Bad Reputation
Mostly average album overall. I would give it a 3/5. My favorite song is Piece by Piece. The worst is In the Blue. She has an amazing voice, but manages to sound awful on that track. Someone is good, but a bit of a bore. It's at least better than Tightrope. Take You High is so bad. Is it a dance song or a pop song? There is no focus on this track, and the bit after the chorus is as annoying as it is experimental (for Kelly). I Had a Dream receives too much hate. It isn't great, but it's passable and the little vocal sample makes it interesting. Dance With Me manages to be danceable, but it's still boring. War Paint and Nostalgic save the latter half of the album. I love the production on Bad Reputation. It's a shame that Kurstin didn't use more varied production like that on the rest of the album instead of his basic drum beats and synths that he employs for almost every track.

"Take You High" is crazy underrated. It's kind of low-key one of the best things she has done sonically (not so much lyrically). Once it clicks with you -- if it does -- it's stuck. I was put off by it initially, but I am in love with it now.
Also, "Tightrope" is actually quite nice, but I wish it was a little longer. It could have developed a little more.
This album is overall one that may put some people off at the beginning (I'm a huge fan and I was slightly put off at first by how straightforward pop it was), but I am loving it now. It really is a great progression for her.

I kinda despise Let Your Tears Fall. It's probably the only song on the album I don't like.
