Of course they can smash anytime, it's stupid to say otherwise but it's not "nonsense" that some songs are better suited for certain times of year... Labels organize singles according to seasons often. SOTS would have been a perfect summer single, Blow is great for summer too.. Ballads typically do better in the colder months.

Well... Someone Like You peaked at the end of summer, into fall.
Single Ladies peaked at #1 in the middle of winter.
We Found Love peaked in winter
Firework peaked in winter
And Timber/Dark Horse are arguably the biggest songs that slayed this just past winter.

Not to say Summer only has ballads, because they sure as hell don't.
It just would of been the same outcome if the winter smashes were to all be released in summer too, probably, so the season is rarely a factor.

I want to see big updates for Bey. Of course it's good since it's positive but I really can't cope with how they're handling the singles. I mean send it to pop already, or bring a new song out. DrIL is seriously free falling.

If pop picks it up it should easily start getting bigger updates

If I recall correctly DrIL's airplay was much bigger than 60M before crossing over. Well I think we all know that the main reason it crossed over was her Grammys performance. So we either need a performance or an official date for pop.

I wished GMC was more specific about that July promo.

"Jealous" or "Rocket" as singles for me. Everything else people expect to smash because they supposedly sound gp friendly but lately it seems that the GP rather have something totally new and unexpected. So yeah nothing that "sounds like a hit" for me. Just the best tracks on the album as singles please. This isn't an album that was made for pop radio anyways.

I think it's some kind of tactic they're using to avoid songs flopping on the format.

They've let pop know the song is there, they've probably even sent radio edits to some of the stations. I think they want to see what kind of early support the song has before they send it.
