Times have changed. Beyonce is DOMINATING a ****** music industry. Janet was one of many amazing female superstars when she was at her peak. Beyonce has like 1 real competitor when it comes to that stuff--GaGa, a woman who is probably too wacko to perform for Presidents and such.
Janet had Whitney, Madonna, Mariah, Whitney, Shania, Alanis, Celine, etc. to compete with.
If she did it in purpose, she wouldn't have looked so shocked and then covered it up immediately afterward. Just saying. That wasn't acting. OBVIOUSLY Justin was supposed to rip something off, but not the whole thing.

Madonna is more skilled than Janet, not necessarily more talented though. Madonna was always the more ambitious one of the two and she had to overcome more hurdles to get into the music industry than Janet did. I understand race and gender (and her older brother's shadow) made things difficult for Janet but she also had the connections and her brother's coattails.
In terms of persona or swagger, I think Beyonce and GaGa are equally matched. Lady GaGa is more talented when it comes to playing an instrument, but that's the only place she has Beyonce beat. She writes a lot more of her music than Beyonce does but her lyrics are vapid and incoherent and her melodies are too simple. Beyonce is a better dancer too.
