You all must only read about pop music, because it seems a large portion of you understand nothing about large companies, particularly Apple.

Tim Cook definitely has the power to okay something like that.
Honestly, for a company like Apple, this whole ordeal translates to a minuscule amount of money.

Like said by someone before, if Indie Artists weren't for Apple Music than why was FKA Twigs on the commercial when she is in XL

Of course. I am not a lunatic deluded enough to think that Apple would alienate the industry and the GP by being heavy handed and then perform an abrupt turnaround as part of some marketing strategy. This is Apple, they already are mega popular as a brand and have good relationships with most labels and artists. They are not going to jeopardise that to play a kindergarten prank on the entire industry!
If you think that then you don't understand how a company like Apple operates. You think the labels don't know what contracts they have been offered to participate in Apple Music? You think Apple created fake contracts to get the indie labels outraged for ***** and giggles, so they can just whip out the real contracts later and say only joking! This is not Scooby Doo, FFS!

Changing contracts ALONE takes hours, even DAYS to complete considering all parties have to run the drafts by all their lawyers..

And again I say felicia PLEA.
An ATRL moderator might change his/her mind on a WP within hours on a Sunday in this digital age, but the heads of a multi-billion dollar business certainly aren't. As if the original decision to not pay for usage for three months was a business decision made on the whim without any thought. PLEA.

You obviously don't know Apple because this is going to make big headlines everywhere. Major corporations do stunts like this all the time, and it seems like you fell for this one.

Apple, in one moment, could destroy Taylor Swift's career by removing all of her music on iTunes, the largest music service on the planet. What would Taylor be able to do to combat that? Nothing. Taylor has nothing against Apple and has no power over them. Apple is not a pop girl. It's the most valuable company on the planet and could practically buy any company besides Microsoft. I know we all love our artists, but they can't do as much as many people on this site believe they can.

Let's not be hyperbolic. Apple would be destroyed by bad press if they did that in reaction.
Plus, Taylor has the highest physical album sales percentage of any major popular artist, so it's not the end of the world.

They were probably on the fence. Really, though, think about how much money this actually translates to for Apple. Not much.
Tim Cook can make much more financially affecting decisions on a whim than this.

Taylor being the reason why so many artists will be paid for their work. This is Taylor's world and we're living in it.

I don't think she just had an opinion on it and they had to obey her because she's a powerful artist.....I think she made very good points about a specific policy in their service (a policy that they probably saw this downside for but didn't think it would cause the uproar that it did) spoke out about it, had people agreeing with her (which would have resulted in a loss of many potential users for them), and decided to quickly come up with a change.
As far as interviews.....PR works FAST in stuff like this, they have to. It's not uncommon for them to have done a quick website interview about it.

Actually it is you who are showing your lack of understanding. Executive decisions can be made instantly in response to changing market conditions. CEOs of blue-chip companies are employed to make decisions, even on Sundays.
A new product was about to be engulfed in a **** storm of negative publicity just before it launched. A decision needed to be made to head that off, and it was made.

Those Royalty contracts are probably already in place. Apple has done it prior to its launch and all that needs to be done is to sign off on it. You can't assume that they need to renegotiate something that has already been negotiated. All that needs to be updated is the three-month clause that royalties are to be paid. This can be done electronically quite easily.
