This year, the audience will not be trifled with.

If American Idol's producers and judges take anything away from tonight's show, they'll hopefully learn they need to tread gently. The elimination of three singers considered to be early contenders to go deep into the finals -- Ashley Rodriguez, Tyler Grady and Janell Wheeler -- suggests that no contestant is above the audience's disinterest. None of the three gave great performances, but they were far from the week's worst -- and the same goes for poor, sweet Joe Muñoz, who never had a chance.

Whoever's watching the show this year isn't necessarily voting on vocal performance alone; many other factors are in play. And if the judges want to keep their favorites on the show, they'll need to be very, very careful how they criticize them. Because if Tyler Grady can go home while Alex Lambert and Tim Urban stay, nobody on this show is safe.

really? i saw her a lot compared to the rest throughout the show. and u know, she's hot, freaking hot. sad that not enough guys watching the show and be bothered to save this chick.

I guess the judges are just being honest.

Ashley was deff terrible with Happy. For Andrew, i think the boys performances were so bad that when it reached Andrew they were already overwhelmed. or maybe the way of pimping contestants in the last 2 seasons (Adam and Archie) do not really work out, so they try to act like Andrew is not the front-runner. But that's weird, i don't know haha.
