11. Azealia Banks - Broke With Expensive Taste
One of the most rewarding music moments of 2014 for me was the release of this album. I was just so happy that it was... not good, but great. At 16 tracks, there's a lot to take in but honestly none of the tracks read filler to me, and there's a good balance between all the Azealia tricks (she brings new ones in too don't worry). The main focus is House music of the 90s mixed with Hip-Hop obviously, and she definitely brings that to the table in all the ways I could hope to. She even bests Ariel Pink at his own game in her version of Nude Beach a Go-Go. The tracklisting and sequencing is very intently done also, so props to her for that.
14. CEO - Wonderland
This album pulls out all the Indie-Pop tropes, pretty much, but it's soooo good at it. It has those instant ear-worm songs, the breathy, less danceable songs, and of course, lots of Animal Collective and 80s influence. So like, it's works pretty well in my opinion. The lyrics verge on sort of meme-isms at points, but I kind of encourage it, because why not?
i've not heard of this artist, but that artwork is intriguing. how worth my time are they, overall?
