I think what's even more dumb is people in here who aren't religious or don't have any understanding of religion trying to explain what God would do in such a situation.
I think that you can, but your environment might make you believe otherwise. A gay Muslim living in an Islamic community or a gay Christian living in a Christian community might feel like they can't possibly be devoted to their religion because of the things they hear on a daily basis.
In reality, being gay is a sin, that's true. But there are many other sins that people commit on a daily basis, and you don't see them getting judged for it. It's all a matter of perception. People shun homosexuality because it scares them, most likely due to how they were raised.
For me, the only things that I do which go against my religion is being gay and not praying all five prayers a day. Other than that, I do everything my religion asks of me. There are others who do so much worse, but they're perfectly devoted to their religion. So why can't I?
You say this like every single person who's devoted to a religion hasn't sinned in some way or another before.
Wait, you're a guy and a Muslim?
You know me btw, that Demi stan on twitter remember
Religion and sexuality are both social constructions, so you can believe what you want and be attracted to whoever or whatever you like--don't let society's definitions of what these things are constrict your true beliefs/values/desires.
well ffs you shouldnt be discussing this. if you believe god created you and you are gay, you are free to have a religion and do whatever you want. since god made you gay. not your choice
Christianity/Judaism/Islam aren't the only religions.
Can you be a part of a religion and be gay? YES. Wicca, Native American religion for example.
Can you be Christian and gay? Depends on who you ask, but I say yes.
Of course you can. Being respectful and kind to others is always a plus though. Christianity technically forbids eating shellfish, but you don't see shellfish-eaters leaving their religion behind because of it. In today's society, "Christians" tend to be more outspoken about homosexuality though. It's interesting what points we've found in the Bible to justify being cruel and hateful towards others who are different. It's all just a power struggle in the end.
As long as you have Imaan and the shahada in your heart, you'll go to heaven. All Muslims go to heaven in the end no matter what, although how long you spend in hell before you get to heaven depends on how much you've sinned in your life.
If you focus in your religion and try to be the best Muslim you can be, your odds of forgiveness will be much higher
