Not all of her entire act, only the beginning of her career, she had to show who she is. And it doesn't change the fact she made talent cool

first of all this is not true
she had pretty good songs for her 4th album too but her label pushed her to put some radio friendly songs on the album. So she went to Max Martin and released it with his songs & her mostly self written songs -because she didn't want to waste them-. She saved some other great tracks for 5th album which was planned to be released soon after GL but she left RCA and we only have some infos & instrumentals of them.
HK was originally a pop/rock song too but she wanted to do something different with it, it's not even a serious song to talk about.
I'm not saying she doesn't try to make trendy songs but she's not really making the main pop sound of the time as well.
