Yeah, except not.
Loca peaked at #2 in France and was Top 10 for 10 weeks
Rabiosa peaked at #6 in France and was Top 10 for 8 weeks
Je LŽAime A Mourir peaked at #1 in France (7 weeks at #1) and was Top 10 for 17 weeks
And she did 7 arena dates in that country alone
Plus she tours all over the world, and her tour grossed over $100M. So i think they care

Perhaps my early post for Shakira was uncalled for but it doesn't matter. J.Lo still won the poll and did have more impact.

Yeah. J.Lo had a greater impact overall, but not in music, which is what this thread is asking. Shakira was and still is bigger in music than J.Lo

I didn't read the post about it being in music , I thought it was overall impact but now that I know that I would go with Shakira since that is her main career and looking at the two, she does have more success musically. J-Lo's music career is nothing special.

Exactly. Many people fail to realize the thread is about music industry only. I also agree that J.Lo had a bigger impact overall, her movies remain iconic 
But in music alone, Shakira is bigger

Not to mention that her SPANISH album Sale El Sol sold over 500,000 copies in France alone. JLO won't even sell anywhere close to that in the US with her next album, let alone France.
Shakira is a global touring force as well...her tours span the entire world & she does well in most, if not all, of the markets that she tours in (including stadiums in Latin America).

J.Lo may have less successful career than Shakira but i think she's more well-known so i think she has more impact.

In terms of celebrity, J.Lo had one of the biggest peaks of all pop girls and a has a better legacy. At least in America. She's ventured into so many different areas: music, film, perfume, a clothing-line, television, etc. and was successful in all of them.
Shakira never garnered the same kind of adulation here in the states. Nobody ever cared about her relationships, her dresses were never a topic of discussion for weeks on end....Maybe overseas in Spanish-speaking countries it's different but I can only go by what I know. She had two big bops, "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie." That's it. Lopez, however, had "If You Had My Love," "Waiting For Tonight" "Love Don't Cost A Thing," the one-two punch of the "Ain't It Funny" and "I'm Real" remixes, (anyone who's old enough to remember 2001 in music knows how huge them joints were), Jenny From The Block, and "All I Have." True she fell off for a good while but so what? The early part of her career makes up for it. And again, it's not like she only has music to fall back on. She's made a name for herself in other fields.
