my all time favorite albums from her are "Rhythm Nation" and "The Velvet Rope", but this one is very good too! i'd say it's either 3rd or 4th in my ranking of her albums....

oh, and i did not download the album but i have listened to the songs on youtube and will buy the album when it comes out on Tuesday!

Wow. I'm truly disappointed. :-/ I was really rooting for her, until I heard reviews and stuff I started to lose interest, then "Feedback" flopping.

I don't see this album going anywhere. Of course FANS are gonna give amazing reviews, they're desperate for her to be recognized again, but so far the critics aren't liking it, at least the ones I trust and respect.

As for blogvibes and fercho's little fight, hush up. Fercho, you weren't in the wrong for saying "Feedback" was mediocre as it was just an opinion. Its sad you can't go around the board with Britney in your avi w/o haters ready to pounce and tear you to shreds. blogvibes on the other hand, I think something is truly wrong with you. your avatar? wow. i'm at a loss of words. do you really have so much anger and pain in you to do that? Yeah Blackout might be at #68 on the charts, but you're acting as if you're 100% certain Discipline is gonna debut and last 5 weeks in the top ten or something. "Feedback" can't even reach top 30 on radio, or, past the top 40 on iTunes, so do you REALLY think this album will be bought? You should think before you speak ratface.

It will still have an ok debut, before obiviously crashing.

Such negativity. Okay, so for those of you acting all idiotic and obsessive over Janet/Britney whoever . . . what is the point? This is a business, sure these women no doubt appreciate their fans but for you to go around insulting one another over sales & promotion etc. is kind of ridiculous. And to be quite honest, neither will be around forever . . . artists phase in and out over time. It just happens. So like who you like and live with it.

It's no secret that Janet hasn't been as big as she was in the 80s/90s but hell, NO artist maintains that same momentum as they age. Do you feel Madonna is as popular as she was in the 80s or that even Britney is as big as she was in the 90s when she was new and fresh? No . . . times change, the industry changes. There is always something coming that will be better.

Personally I think both Britney and Janet should be concerned for different reasons. Britney for her personal issues and Janet for failing to make the songs that connect with today's audience. Steering back on topic here . . . Discipline is a nice album, but it comes nowhere close to what I was hoping for and expected from Janet. She needs to do what Prince did . . . modernize her old sound that made her popular instead of trying to adopt today's trends. It doesn't work for her, and the fact that Jimmy Jam and Terry are absent shows on this effort.

Someone said it best. . . for the most part the songs have been boring. So Much Betta needs to be her next single with a hot dance and video. Kikio (sp?) should be in the video. She needs to do something NEW . . . this album isn't doing anything new. It is just putting Janet's voice to beats that would probably suit other artists in today's market much better.

There is an entire little 80s revival occurring and she couldn't even bother to harken back to her old sounds a little on this album? Come on, whoever is producing/managing her career is making foolish creative decisions. Janet could have made a good album, but this isn't the one. It's mediocre, and no that isn't bad . . . but you don't expect Janet Jackson to be mediocre. Period.

Don't download it--buy it! The sound quality will be worth it!

Anyway, I've listened to most if not all of the tracks on YouTube, and I'm really loving "So Much Betta," "Rollercoaster," "2Nite," "The 1" and "Luv." Of course, "Feedback," also, but that's excluded here.

Overall, I'm still very excited to buy it on Tuesday... I don't really care what the downers say, and I think that, quality-wise, it's a major step up from 20 YO/DJ and sales-wise it will be better than both.
