Yeah, being "pro-family values" is pretty much a euphemism for anti-gay at this point, at least from what I've seen. I mean, I suppose it's possible that he's simply not aware of it, but it seems a bit coincidental that, of all shows that have good "family values" he'd choose the one that has had very clear and very recent anti-gay leanings.
Granted, he is British. I do wonder whether that whole "controversy" made its way across the pond.
