To answer the original OP, I'm going to say Grammys from a longevity perspective. U2 has 22 Grammys but only 2 #1 singles, yet they have the highest grossing tour of all time. #1 singles don't mean much in the latter part of your career, particularly when radio stops playing your music. I'm going to assume that most people would rather have a career and a reputation that allows them to gross $300 - $700 million from touring than have to resort to reality TV.

When will yall understand that no one gives a **** about the Grammys anymore? People watch it to be entertained, it's not an event like before, no one talks about it the next day besides the stans, Grammys are no more relevant than MTV awards

I voted for singles, although I truly despise artists who can only sell singles. I respect Grammy Awards more, although respect doesn't equal a flourishing and memorable career. If people don't buy your music, you're irrelevant. An ideal mix is my preference. Say, 9 #1 singles and 9 Grammy Awards.

How is Mariah Carey more respected than Beyoncé? Mariah is not a big critical darling, and for the most part, people think of her as a bimbo who wears skimpy skirts. And many sources have questioned several of Mariah's #1s, which I won't even get into. I think Mariah, at her peak, was a better singer than Bey, but I would say Beyonce is definitely more respected than Mariah.

Depends, Which ever gives you the longevity and respect to maintain a career. Sade does not have any of those in abundance but here she is selling over 1 million units in the US, which was a lot more than Mariah Carey did for her 'Memoirs' album and Sade did a lot less promo and does not reach the same levels of pop culture relevance.

Are you serious? Watch an episode of American Idol and the contestants alone show how respected she is.
And I know you're not saying she's less respected than Beyonce of ALL PEOPLE, when 90% of things coming out of people's mouth about Beyonce are illuminati, her pregnancy, and every other mess across the block.
