It's a good album, not a great one. I like storytelling in songs/interesting lyrics and smart production, but this one is mostly one dimensional. It is a bit self-indulgent and two fingers to her haters, and in that sense it doesn't take the listener anyplace else. I look for a lot of artists outside the mainstream and find brilliant albums that show how it should it be done. I think she needs some more emotional ballads, relationship stuff, and still some strong kick ass, don't care songs as well. Looking back to Diirty and Fighter she used to have more edge, and then she would blow you away with slowies like Hurt and I'm O.k.
American artists are not really doing it for me much anymore, but this year may be better. My top albums last year were mostly by U.K and Swedish artists. Female artists used to be belters over in America, so I don't know what's happened. I used to enjoy Pink, but lost interest, and I owned the whole Mariah Carey backlog, but now kind of disinterested. American music used to dominate my collections, but only a few artists get a look in now.
