This. Just because Like a Virgin is from the 80s and a classic doesn't make it better than MDNA quality-wise.

i must admit i'm one of those fans.
and to go one step further for me mdna is on the same level as rol with tracks like falling free, love spent, best friend and beautiful killer.
she absolutely reinvents herself again.
being on topic again. elton is stuck in the 70s/80s.

Exactly.

Really ? most of her fans view it like this? This explain everything.
It's not just coz it is a song from the 80's, that makes it better. Im talking about memorable songs be it from 80's, 90's, or even 00's, but that the critics and GP regard them as great songs, and the ones from this Collection of Songs called MDNA do not even come close.

So what you all are saying is, you preferred madonna slam lady gaga really bad, and have the public, atrl, and little monsters slam HER even harder?
And oh, let's not forget, she was already bitter when she made the SLIGHT minor jabs, I couldn't imagine how mean everybody would be to her if she had done differently.
Please. It wasn't madonnas desire to completely trash gaga, it never has been.

What a classy guy. I remember when he was a musician. Now he's dial-a-nasty-quote.
oh well, the QUEEN remains unbothered.

SIR Elton John has reignited his long-standing feud with Madonna by branding her a “f****** fairground stripper” whose “career is over”.
The sharp-tongued Rocket Man blasted his chart foe on Australian TV and is furious that she keeps laying into his pal Lady Gaga – who is godmother to his son Zachary.
Madonna has repeatedly taken swipes at her young pop rival over her hit Born This Way, which has often been compared to the singer’s 1989 single Express Yourself.
She recently said: "I thought, ‘What a wonderful way to redo my song.’ I mean, I recognised the chord changes. I thought it was... interesting.”
But Elton is adamant the star no longer has any authority to criticise others because she’s lost credibility as an artist.
He ranted: “Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn't happen to a bigger c***.”
The incensed rocker continued: “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly.
“But no, she had to go and prove... she looks like a f****** fairground stripper. She's been horrible to Gaga.”
Elton and Madonna have been at each other’s throats for years.
His partner David Furnish waded into the rift in January when he slammed Madonna for beating Elton to scoop the Best Original Song award at the Golden Globes.
Her tune Masterpiece, from her directorial debut flick W.E., was the surprise choice over Elton’s duet with Lady Gaga, Hello Hello, from the Furnish-produced animation Gnomeo & Juliet.
David immediately took to Twitter to vent his fury, writing: “Madonna. Best song???? F*** off!!!”
He later wrote: “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit.
“Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”
Elton had earlier taken a pop at Madonna on the red carpet before the ceremony, saying: “Mary J Blige might win it for The Help. Madonna doesn't have a f****** chance.”

I'm so over Elton, bitch take several seat in a corner NOW
I who stan hard for Madonna and have been a fan of GaGa since she came to WMF in 2008, I'm kinda over all of this. Elton honey nobody asked for ur opinion, but u love to drag my bitch through filth, Gaga is a big ole girl, she can handle her own battles.
While i still luv me sum GaGa, da only thing I never understood was Y GaGa said she had da "Queen" (Madonna for u youngins) permission for BTW and then when Madonna gets asked she denies ever talkin to GaGa. Madonna has every right to talk about it, she performs da songs in her show, people can base their opinions if tru or not
What wrecks me so much is their sum busted monsters here hailing Elton, please get over urself. But if somebody criticized harshly GaGa da way he does Madonna, u'd be crucifying them.
back to Elton, honey Menopause is not a good look, and its a shame that people only interview this busted queen to see what he says about Madonna and not about his legacy?

She was actually what Nicole was talking about : someone trying to be shady and not being all out with it.
And like I said in SYG, I'm sick of all these people coming out to defend Gaga. I get that they're her friends, she's not their keeper and she's being the "bigger person" in this mess, but Madonna doesn't have an issue with Elton John, Ferdinand Gariboy, Lady Starlight or DJ White Shadow. Sh it, she probably doesn't even know or care about the last three mentioned. Gaga is a big advocate against bullying, and the best way to deal with a bully is to stand up to them yourself.

The irony in that Elton struggles to sell out a 5,000 seat concert hall whereas Madonna is selling out 70,000 seat stadiums.

This comes at a time when Elton John has been playing to empty theaters that hold 3,000 seats while Madonna has been playing to audiences of 70,000 per night.

That's your opinion even if you roll eyes... Like a Virgin and Like a Prayer didn't receive critical acclaim when released but until later, Rolling Stone changed Like a Prayer's rating years later. He likes MDNA, I like it too, it doesn't mean the previous albums are worse than MDNA, but he just happens to like it more than the old stuff, he relates more to it. And I understand, I truly love MDNA, and I think it's better than many of her albums.
