Just because it's not ordinary to wear a KKK outfit it would still be inappropriate for someone to dress up in one and especially if a parent doesn't do right by their child and explain why it's inappropriate.
This is true, but I think the "blackface" situation is completely different.

This!!!
But I think that outfit is more known among ppl and it would have been saw as offensive easier than the black face painting
You're disgusting, you'd beat the **** out of a ****ing seven year old because he wanted to make MLK proud? You must be so proud with yourself, huh tough guy? Might as well hit a girl while you're at it, or a baby?
We had debates about racism, religion, and all kinds of **** lmao
Debating about religion to an atheist is worse than anything THAT will make a sensitive christian CRY
I always left feeling some type of way after the small debates my dorm mates and I had at dinner about race and religion.
This sounds like the class from hell

Just because the KKK outfit is more documented as racism doesn't mean it's any different, MLK wanted equality and with the parents letting him paint his face makes it seem like he was only defined by his color and not his "equal" message that skin color isn't important.
You know what, I'll give you a wonderful wikipedia link. Enjoy the knowledge.
The you know what the most important part was in that link? The date.. I mean the past is the past. You all need to learn to let go. I don't fret about the dutch making us slaves. As long as they don't think of us in that way, there is no.need to take it personally. what do u want that kid to do, use his white colour to describe the person he looked up to? King was black, was he not?
Portraying a member of a group that's sole intention was to humiliate, torture, and kill blacks is different that portraying a strong, positive figure in black history. That's the way I see it.

but you see...that's the thing
Because its more documented its easier to recognize as offensive
Blackface doesn't come up so often...especially at such a young age
I can sit here all night and tell you stories about so many of my friends having to deal with racism on their VERY FIRST visit to another country. These generalizations are a mess.

They both hold negative connotations, they both offend black AND white people. If you don't feel it was right that the boy got heat for putting himself in a situation he was unaware would arise, that's fine. But don't ask why people were offended.

Why does color matter though? This contradicts everything MLK was for.

I don't understand how anyone could think America is the only racist country. Where did we inherit this racism from?
