It's not that this album isn't terrible, it's just safe. I really like a lot of the songs, but I have to admit that Nicki never went "hard" on the album. Her verses in "Monster", "Roman's Revenge", and "Did It On Em" shows that she the potential. Even the urban/rap songs were safe. Although, I do like this pretty much equal to "Pink Friday" in terms of quality, but she just stays in the same place she was before. She doesn't move forward.
I don't mind her appealing to pop and rap audiences, but she needs to take both genres on another level, not the obvious one.
