I think it's laughable that people are so quick to discount the past like it never happened. People didn't just stop talking about Thriller just because it got old. When people talk about Michael Jackson now, they talk about Thriller... just like when people talk about Britney they talk about Baby One More Time. When history is being revisited, people will talk about artists at their peaks... just because we like in the present doesn't mean that is the only thing we need to discuss. So yes, I will bring up Britney higher selling older albums because that is not irrelevant.
Second, people kill me comparing apples to cornbread. Beyonce is having extremely similar succes to Britney. If you look at 1999 - 2003 for Britney, it looks the same (well better) than Beyonce 2003 - 2011 (we will omit 2004-2006). It's unfair to compare Britney to Beyonce now because Britney has already been there and done all of this. In 5 more years, then it will be necessary to compare Britney now to Beyonce then.
Next, I know Britney doesn't dance like she used to. It tears me up inside... but anyone that has the nerve to say Britney then or now couldn't take Beyonce then or now is gonna have to fight me on that one. There is a certain flow you have when you've been trained to dance and when Beyonce is on stage, I don't see that. I never said she was a bad dancer, but Beyonce has never executed a style of dancing similar to Britney's and she never will because she's never be able to do it in heels. Like I said before, I would never want to see Britney attemp Single Ladies because it would just not look right... but I stand by the fact that Britney could do any choreography set thrown at her, then and now... but a lot of the stuff I've seen Britney throw into the mix, Beyonce could never. The day Beyonce gives me something as technical as Overprotect, Me Against the Music or even the ending of HIAM, then I just don't see it.
When all is said and done, Madonna is still the Queen and Beyonce and Britney are in their own respective lanes. However, like I said in the origianl post, there are so many aspects that would need to be compared and when done so, Britney surely comes out on top in my back.
Let me remind you that just because I stan for Britney doesn't mean I'm anti Beyonce. I've seen Bey live 7 times now and I love her...
