Okay but this is not exclusive to white people. It's just how society works. African-American people themselves were culturally stripped when they were enslaved hundreds of years ago -- current black culture evolved from what the European girls were doing at the time.

But why does it have to be a bad thing? The globalising society is becoming increasingly multicultural and intercultural, and some people are just unable to accept that. I'm not sure why.

The word should really just be left in the history books. Trying to reclaim it is all well and good, but when it's so prominent in pop culture people are bound to use it regardless of how much people claim a race is banned from saying it.

Fighting a losing fight by keeping the word in public conscious whilst also expecting people to never use it, just let it die tbh.


He was stupid for using it, but since his intention wasn't to use it to insult or in a negative manner I'd think he could be forgiven. (I'm not black so obviously my opinion is fairly irrelevant, but I'm imagining him using the gay version of this word.)

Black people are out here getting shot for going to church and Muslim kids getting arrested for making clocks but white people want to claim they're oppressed. White people who argue their right to say the N word simply aren't fond of the idea of being told what they can't say, especially by a group they perceive to be beneath them. These same individuals will call black people "violent", "ghetto", "uneducated" but still want to be down with black culture. This is what happens when you benefit from privilege. You have no real issues to deal with so you protest over dumb **** like puppy rights and being able to say the N word.

It's not bad that society is becoming more a cultural mix; it's great actually. People need to respect each other's cultures though, and history has shown that white people don't always do that.

There's definitely racist slurs against white people too. Would you be okay if they used those and white artists promoted them but anyone who wasn't white was told they can't use it? (Especially if it was targeted specifically towards black people)

The word is racist and offensive. Gregg/Bella shouldn't have used it, but neither should black people. No one is actually reclaiming the word. If it WAS reclaimed and the meaning WAS changed, anyone could use it as the offensive meaning is gone. That's not the case. Therefore, no one should use it period.
