It's very simple -- do you or do you not understand where I was coming from and my viewpoint? Religion is not portrayed in music videos often. And when a major music act delivers a religious music video... twice, in over a year, it will seem repetitive and one-note. That is my point. It's very simple. Religious videos and dancing videos hold different weight -- it's a moot comparison.

No, I don't agree that it has to be repetitive or one-note of her based on the information we have thus far, unless all things even tangentially related to "religion" fall under the same broad umbrella for you, with no potential distinction to be made.
I agree that people tend to perceive things in shorthand (
e.g., "She's doing another 'religious' video."), but I don't think people's tendency toward forming perception on superficial similarities serves as the basis for any meaningful criticism.
Aren't you the one who slams the superficial perception people have that Ke$ha is a talentless ***** while Taylor Swift is the virginal talented songwriter? Popular perception and legitimate criticisms that are informed by the ability to comprehend nuance are two different things.
I'm also curious, though, Vin -- how would you like to see Gaga "challenge" herself? I mean, putting aside the fact that you aren't the biggest fan of BTW the song and think it's just a Madonna retread. She's said that the rest of the album is different, so what do you want to see from her? What would satisfy you? Talking about both the music and the videos here.
