It's a flop regardless of the future unless it repeaks on the hot 100, the massive promo even had me on the bandwagon until I heard the song, not that its extremely bad but I was expecting dance music and I doubt I was the only person

The difference is that most of those you mentioned they dont create appealing music to This generation. ( I can't imagine someone jamming to Price ). Most of them don't even promote any of their work. Plus many of the Rock groups you mentioned are successful

On the other hand, Madonna's music is catered to the newer generation ( Hard Candy, Confessions on a Dance Floor, That song ... ext )

Pre-orders history records? What's that? You sound like Billboard's bloggers who make records out of everything What's the record? Number one on all itunes stores? Lana Del Rey for God's sake was number 1 in every country. iTunes doesn't have that much influence when it comes to album's sales.
And Madonna's "force" how you call it, only got it at the #13th spot, and the biggest promo of the world LITERALLY, got it to #10th, so lets not girl.

She's over 40. Even with its very strong sales, it couldn't get past 80M AI on radio. But if it had a Superbowl performance, it would have been #1 without a doubt. It would have shot straight to #1 on iTunes with a huge lead. The digital market allows for that. It went #1 on iTunes with a video premiere on Idol in front of 20M people. Imagine an audience of 130M.

How can you compare Jennifer Lopez or Kelly Clarkson to Madonna.

Madonna's first top 10 hit was way back in 1983. J-Lo's first hit was in 1999, Kelly's first hit was in 2002. They aren't newbies but they're not as old in the biz as Madonna.

And NO, it's not easy for older artists to make huge impact on young-driven iTunes unless they die. The force on older artists are their tours which is different.
