Lady Gaga deserved all the positive attention, recognition, critical acclaim and fame she gained during the 'The Fame' era, but I believe she no longer does.
If Katy Perry was currently as highly viewed as Lady Gaga is now I would have voted for her instead, as I believe she's also declined significantly since her first era.
1. Katy Perry: I think she's the most overrated female artist. I love her songs. they are good, but i think they are not good enough to top the chart.
2. Adele: She ruled 2011 by boring songs. I like her songs but they are kinda boring. Not because I like uptempo songs, but how she ruled 2011by those songs were funny to me .
3. Rihanna: most of her no.1 songs are overrated, but she topped the chart with those songs. The only songs i love are Umbrella and Love the way you lie.
For me Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Britney are not overrated at all. they did great. they topped the charts with great songs.

People overrate 21.Period.I wouldn't say the same for the artist because not everyone knows her past singles like "Chasing Pavements" or "Hometown Glory"
Xtina and Beyonce are NOT overrated.4 and Bionic didn't sell great (although 4 SLAYS)
The GP doesn't really find Rihanna,Katy, or Britney talented so the vote is kinda hopeless.(No shade because I personally like them)
Those of you who voted for Gaga IMO missed the big picture.Sure her FANS overrate her (but then again who doesn't have at least one fan/stan do that) BUT for every fan I see,I always see someone else call her a "gimmick", a "man" or a "copycat".People can come up with some of the silliest excuses to diminish her sometimes.Yeah,there are cult like stans of Gaga BUT then you have people on the other end of the spectrum like Nicole,who tend to criticize her.If this was expanded to Most Overrated CONTEMPORARY artist instead of just female,my vote would go to Beiber)
