You're joking right? MTV is the reason "Halo" got where it did on iTunes so early. It's also the reason The PussyCat Dolls' "Top Of The World" did very well on iTunes, thanks to TheCity. You'd be surprised how much those credits actually matter, MTV's audience is insane. FallOutBoy's single is also getting little to 0 promotion and is Top 100 on iTunes because of MTV playing it during credits.
