Ironically, Mariah Carey held Rihanna back from having her first #1-hit in 2005, when "We Belong Together" dominated the scene and "Pon De Replay" settled for second place. Today, Rihanna is on the heels of her 9th #1, with "Only Girl (In The World)" which is off her 5th album -- the same total amount of albums Mariah released when she gained her 9th #1.
Counting #1s before they smash, I can see:
- S&M
- California King
all achieving that same stature. Cheers (Drink To That) is a toss up, because I really thought ROCKSTAR 101 would SMASH!
She's released 5 albums in 5 years. I'm going to go with "no."
Her best is yet to come, we've yet to see what her artistic expressions hold, she penned hits before: Run This Town, Rude Boy, G4L, Fire Bomb, Last Song, Hard, and more.

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love Rihanna and "Rated R" is one my favorite albums ever. But I get no sense that she's holding back; when she feels like she's got new music to make, she goes and records another album.
