Obviously there are SHs on this rate if you put this ICONIC song this low. Sideline Ho is the anthem of dismissin' trifilin' b******* and putting them in their place (Latinazza & KAK)!!! Honestly, it doesn't matter how good or bad this song did, all of her fans loved it! Monica even sent out a petition online to film a music video for it, and if I had known about it then, I would've definitely signed it!!
In an interview with Billboard about the song, "the record was about "me being in a relationship years ago and somebody just disrespected to the fullest. An ex of mine blatantly, openly cheated - as if people didn't know who his girlfriend was! And just the sound of her name would make my flesh crawl. So he was like, 'Well what did you call her?' I said, 'She has no name. She has no importance [...] I always referred to her as the 'sideline ho,' because she was too comfortable with her position."
Bottom line, if you have no BENEFITS, CREDIT CARDS, HOUSE KEYS, you'se a SIDELINE HO!!!
So inspirational. Monica was really feelin' it with this album. After all the hurt and pain she went through, Monica embraced her inner Mary and gave out a spectacular song. Buyonce commented, "- this song came at a time when I was really low in life. It helped pick me up and I’m forever grateful for that." We're grateful for it too.
Still Standing actually was originally the lead single for the album following her reality show "Still Standing" back in 2008, but the label didn't reach an agreement, so the song was eventually scrapped as a single.
No shade, but shade. The Makings of Me cover was tragic. I didn't even recognize that was Monica at first cuz of that blonde hair. But the album is still my 2nd fav!
Until It's Gone became a powerful ballad to me when at first, I wasn't really into the song. This song is a similar message to Brandy's "Do You Know What You Have", but better The music video was powerful too, involving betrayal, death, and heartbreak. Anyone who has someone special, you better hold on to him/her before it's gone.
After the failure of Anything, Until It's Gone was promoted as the album's lead single, until it failed and got bumped down. New Life is not a good album but KAK says, "In an album filled with mediocrity, this basic ass song is somewhat decent. Jazmine should've kept it. Monica didn't really do it justice." I think it would have stayed better with Monica.
