Does anyone really care about what is said on MTV? I don't think it's racist, it's just an extremely stupid rhetoric which causes white backlashes in the form of Trump voting and going openly against non-white people. This is not the way to cure racial relations.

This video is racist. Anybody who doesn't see that is likely themselves racist.
The definition of "racist" that 99% of people use is discriminating against people based on their race. That is why every version of the video has 99% dislikes.
The definition of "racist" that SJWs use is "white people". Therefore, in the SJW world they can say "All white people must die" and that's not racist, because they believe it's impossible to be racist towards white people. That is messed up, and certainly goes against my (and most other people's) values of treating people as equals and individuals.
SJWs can change the definition of racism if they want, but they're not going to be successful in getting everybody else to use that definition. Sorry.

Exactly, it's just semantics to try to give "oppressed people" a free pass at hate speech. It's why I would never hate on straight people despite the sh*t LGBT people have gone through. It's hypocritical no matter how you define discrimination. You can't fight against double standards while simulateneously setting double standards or fight against hate while simultaneously advocating hate.

Y'all are offended by this, yet any person that was offended by the "questions white people have for black people thread" were called sjw's lmao.
Just shows who the real "sjw" are.

But nobody in this video is saying "all white people must die" or anything remotely close to that
Someone used the analogy of LGBT people with straight people, but if I said something like "I wish straight people would understand that I can't be as open with my relationships in public as they are" is there anything wrong with that?
Again I can think we all agree this video was just made by MTV to cling onto their liberal millenial demographic and that it definitely won't be solving racism any time soon. But the way some people are reacting to this is just so over the top...

I'm not even referring to this video, which is more so just cringey than hateful. But there are people who say things like "I wish all white people / men / straight people would die" yet simultaneously preach against hate directed toward their communities, and it's just hypocritical and counterproductive. There's obviously nothing wrong with the comment you gave as an example.

I also agree with you that those comments are very wrong and don't progress any movement. However, I think less people are saying those things than most believe. Some people see these types of videos and immediately it registers in their head as an attack on their identity (like "all white people must die").
It's those reactions that I think are unwarranted, and such I think is the case for this video, created by MTV to tell young progressives what they want to hear more than to actually combat racism.

Asking people to realize how they discriminate others is an act of discrimination itself??
Y'all get real confident thinking the "all white"/"all black" similarities give y'all fallacy some kind of semblance of an argument, but then everything falls apart when you're asked to show how asking people to recognize their prejudices... is... somehow...a prejudice in itself??

MTV can't really talk about "caucasian boy this, caucasian boy that" when almost all their shows are the definition of white mediocrity.

Because you assume that they are prejudiced just on the grounds of their skin.

these are valid, credible points, but i'm done with these buzzfeed-esque videos spouting the same entry-level social issues and considering it to be an act of progress. it's like burnie supporters that accessorized "wokeness" on social media, but never actually went out to vote for him

how is it an assumption when every minority group has been negatively impacted (an understatement tbh) by white supremacy. things like this isn't a racist act, it's literally an outcry.

Racist?
Y'all stay whining and cry about black people being sensitive to race, #BLM, SJWS1 and people being "triggered!@!@1111" but every time we tug at your wigs with the **** that YOU DO, racism is all of a sudden a real issue and just "needs to go away for GOSH sakes " Oh shut the **** up and get over it.

Now if white guys made a video for other groups they'd be dragged for filth. Most of these points hold true for a number of groups. Why single out one? its not helping.

This. The main reason we keep getting rihplies like this:

the problem is with the concept of the video such as MTV made. To make a valid point, they need to be serious and try to have real, honest discussion with white people rather than mocking them and generalizing them with such cringeworthly video and how they're racist just for being white. And let's not even mention that woman saying "manspleaning". How will people take this mess seriously? This video is a complete joke and just makes it harder for people who want to make actual reasonable progress about topic of racism be dismissed because of stuff like that.
|
As if we haven't tried this before. We try day in and day out to discuss racism with the utmost sincerity with white people, and they still mock us, dismiss and undermine our issues regardless. They're constantly missing the point on PURPOSE completely, but once we start to show a little aggression and show them the same amount of respect they show us, they want us to go back to our original approach just because it hurts their wee lil feelings and make them feel so attacked?
Maybe if white people would listen to us the first time, this wouldn't be a recurring issue and every bark wouldn't get louder each time we discuss this. If y'all would spend half as much time discussing and listening to our issues and less time screaming "NOT ALL WHITE PEOPLE!!!111", these videos wouldn't exist anymore. No one is saying all white people are racist and we don't have to make it clear that we mean "not all white people" every time we discuss racial issues, because white people who actually have common sense and a non guilty conscience know it's not about them, and I'm terribly sorry that some of the users in here, the one's that downvoted that video and any other bigot can not relate to that.
