I was so pissed off I flying back to Chicago and this little white girl was screaming her head off and her parents were just ignoring her. She had to be like 7-9 yrs old. I mean she was literally on the floor screaming and the parents did nothing.

'Spanking' and beating your kid is definitely different.
Hitting your kid to teach them a lesson is abuse though and doesn't work most of the time. You dont get your kid to respect you and understand what they did was wrong by making them afraid of you. There are other ways to teach them.
