We're talking about the Netherlands right now. "The Edge of Glory" is a major flop here.

Not that I can think of, talent shows are pretty much the only promotion slots. A video usually does help, but the single is nowhere to be found on iTunes and I also have yet to hear it on the radio. So I doubt the video will make any significant impact.
Smaller countries, with the Netherlands as an example usually need only one performace to guarantee a smash album/era.
I don't see why they wouldn't make quick stops in said smaller markets.
