I agree, particularly the opening ceremony. I felt like it was *too* focused on history and their ancient culture; their old traditions and music. I get that it is a massive part of China and it was spectacular as fuc*, but at least in London after our industrial revolution part we moved into the present. Likewise, so did Rio. Rio didn't have the money to do it fantastically, but I liked the way they tried to present a future Brazil or future world.
Japan will do the same as well. They'll showcase their history, but they'll also include in modern Japan. And so they should!
