She has been working on new music on and off since late 2012. Her engineer Ian Cross confirmed that on his Facebook. He also did an interview with BarefootSound.com where he talked about working on the album but then the interview was deleted from the website after Janet tweeted "If there is a new project, you'll hear it from my lips."

Also Jimmy Jam has kind of hinted all throughout the year (on his twitter) that new Janet music is coming. Jimmy Jam also said that a song him and Terry Lewis did with Janet will be featured on his and Terry Lewis album which is suppose to come out sometime early next year. Janet confirmed that on her birthday when talking to some fans. She said it was an old song but she recently completed it.

So she has been working on new music but we just don't know when it is going to be released
