~Lady Gaga~
Evidence: An artist that came to stardom in the summer of '08, Lady Gaga certified herself as a force when her single "Just Dance" knocked Beyonce's "Single Ladies" from it's 4 week run at the #1 spot on Billboard. But these two ladies didn't become competition, instead they joined forces- after meeting for the second time (the first was at the 2009 MTV VMAs where they both walked away with 3 awards) at Beyonce's ceremony for Billboard Woman Of The Year (where Gaga was also celebrated as Billboard's Rising Star Of The Year), Beyonce asked the daring pop star to work on a song and music video together for Beyonce's single "Video Phone." Then came Lady Gaga's song "Telephone" which features Beyonce. Together these two ladies are a Montser of force to be reckoned with.
Quote
Lady Gaga and Beyoncé have apparently found a quite a kinship in one another and have become good friends quickly. While it might seem that the two superstars would be worlds apart it terms of image, sound and vibe, but at the end of the day there's no question that they're two of the hardest working women in pop music today.
And perhaps those personality traits made it easy for the two of them to bond and collaborate with one another. Since the 2009 Video Music Awards, where both women won awards, their paths have been crossing quite frequently — and they've worked together on two projects so far.
The first to appear will be Beyoncé's clip for "Video Phone." Not many details have emerged about the Hype Williams-helmed video, which was shot in Brooklyn, New York, last month.
The pair also collaborated on a new song, "Telephone," that will appear on the forthcoming deluxe reissue of Gaga's debut LP, dubbed The Fame Monster, which includes eight new songs and is slated for release on November 23 (Gaga's Monster Ball Tour launches in Montreal four days later).
Gaga had nothing but praise for B when she sat down with MTV News for a long interview on Tuesday.
"You know she is such a beautiful person, and I gotta tell you, I just adore her," she said. "I had kind of lost faith a little bit in meeting artists in the business — and then I met Beyoncé."
She also spoke briefly about how much fun the two of them have together. "She is a real, real woman," Gaga said. "I have never laughed so hard on a video set in my life. We had the best time doing 'Video Phone.' "
Quote
Viewers may have been surprised to see a new side of Beyoncé when she assumed the role of good-girl-gone-bad Honey B in the video for Lady Gaga’s “Telephone.” But that was all part of Gaga’s plan, she tells “Big Boy’s Neighborhood.”
“We definitely get along. She’s a good friend of mine and I was so excited to make this video with her. The video in a lot of ways is more about her even than it is about me. It was sort of a pop-art venture for me to bring her into my world. In a way, the video is an attempt for her and I to erase pop music as we know it up until this very point. It’s meant to change the perspective of the world on what a pop music video should be and she’s kind of the vehicle for that. In reality, more people around the world are familiar with her aesthetics than they are with mine. It was something for me to kind of change the way that you see her for one video.”
Quote
Gaga had only the nicest things to say about Queen B. “We’re not competitive at all,” she told Seacrest. “We’re so different, you know, and we respect each other so much. She’s so kind. We get along. She was very courageous in this video. I mean, can you imagine me saying, ‘Okay, now, Beyoncé, now you have to call me a very bad girl and feed me a honey bun’?…She trusted me because she likes my work, and she trusted me because she knew that I love her and that it’s a mutual respect. It ended up being a masterpiece because she was so courageous.”
Quote
What is your attitude towards collaboration with peers in the pop music scene? Is it an idea which scares, excites, or even interests you?
At this moment, I don't want to do any collaborations, especially contemporary ones. I want to stand on my own two feet. This new album is my chance to create what in 20 years will be seen as my iconic moment. That's what you should always aim at. Today, collaborations are about appealing to a wider market and gaining radio plays and album sales, above artistic integrity. She is a real good person, Beyonce, I mean I would say she is my favorite contemporary person in pop music. She is a lovely, lovely person and she is so kind. I don't know how anyone could ever say one bad thing about her, to be honest.

Shortly after her phone rang again. Columbia Records called about the song and Beyonce, who was prepping her sophomore solo disc, wanted it for herself -- and Jay-Z would put a verse on it.
“Once again I’m like ‘really,’ ” she says laughing. “I didn’t believe it until I was walking in the door to meet her, and that’s when I started getting nervous. I came in the room and from the minute we shook hands it was like we were distant cousins. Like we had known each other in a past life or something because we clicked. I’ve never clicked with an artist the way we did. Same with Rihanna, which was more like a big sister, little sister [relationship]. With Beyonce we were closer in age. We just had a ball and before I knew it three weeks had gone by and the album was done.”
The track, “Deja Vu,” was picked as the first single, and scored Riddick another No. 1 single. Of the 10 tracks on the original album released in 2006, Riddick had her hand in writing half, including singles “Upgrade U” and “Get Me Bodied,” rightfully earning her the nickname of “Golden Girl.”
“It was crazy to me when we were done. That was a whirlwind,” Riddick says. “Every day we would be talking for hours -- that’s how those songs came about. It was fun, that’s how you should make an album. It amazes me how a regular girl from Baltimore from the inner city has the same life experiences as a girl from Houston, Texas. You forget that she’s Beyonce until a L’Oreal commercial comes on.”

Although she don’t dress like me, her lyrics are like mine. You see, I’m smart, I pay attention! It would have to be between Beyoncé and Lauryn [Hill] – they are the two that were inspired. They didn’t just copy the whole thing. They took it and did their own little thing with it. I respect that. That other stuff, it’s like ‘you just copied the whole entire thing’ [hoots of laughter]. That’s cool, though. Beyonce – I’m really proud of her. That honey is doing movies, she’s doing modelling, she’s a business woman.”

Miranda Lambert is well- known for her strong female anthems such as 'Gunpowder and Lead,' 'Kerosene,' 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' and 'White Liar,' but there's also a softer, more feminine side to the Texas whirlwind that she would like to be able to show off more.
Maybe an alter ego is in store to show that softer side, such as the case with 'Sasha Fierce,' a character created by R&B superstar Beyoncé, of whom Miranda is a big fan. "I feel like the older I'm getting and the more I'm not some crazy kid with a chip on my shoulder as much as I was," Miranda tells The Boot. "I kind of wish I had an alter ego so that I could not have to be in character if I don't want to."
Miranda admits she plays up her tough-girl image because that's part of who she is. "But," she adds with a laugh, " I love to bake cookies. And I love makeup, and I have this girly side that's really only just starting to show because of 'Revolution' and some of those songs. I'm gonna ponder that, because I figure if Beyoncé could have an alter ego, I should follow her because it's always good to follow greatness."

After being co-signed by Jay-Z, Lil Wayne’s protégée wants to share some of her Barbie swagger with Mrs. Carter. “Beyoncé, she’s fearless, and I think that she could embody my crazy swag in a female R&B world,” she reveals.

Tavis: How did that performance come about? I mean, you decide to do whatever you want to do on your own terms, but how did that actually come to be?
Prince: Well, the producer, Ken Ehrlich, had been hounding me every year to do something, and this year we have a new record coming out, so...and a tour scheduled, so I thought if this was...if this was gonna be the year, then I wanted to do something special. Then the notion of working with Beyonce came about, and that made it extra special 'cause I'm such a fan, so I mean...

Prince: At least in the movies, a successful actor can get $20 million. It's not like that in the music business. Destiny's Child brought in $93 million last year. How much do you think they themselves actually got? It's totally unequal.
Record executives will say, "Destiny's Child made $93 million last year." You ask them, "Why did Destiny's Child themselves only get $4 million of that money?" I mean, have you heard Beyoncé sing? Puh-leeze! She ain't even 20, and she's got a voice like that! Let's kick it up to $30 million. Is that fair? They won't answer. They'll say, "You don't understand...."

Prince also says after working with Beyonce, he can be counted among her legions of fans. "It was cool working with Beyonce because she's a real talent, really cares about music," he said. "She seems to have a relationship with the music that we all have, which means that she does it naturally. When the music starts she'll move naturally, and she has impeccable rhythm and pitch."

"She seems to have a relationship with the music ... which means that she does it naturally, like really naturally. After one rehearsal we played one of her tunes with my band, because usually she sings with tracks and I wanted to hear her sing with a live band, and it was," Prince said, pausing to take out a handkerchief and act like he was wiping away tears, "you don't even want to know. It was good."

Beyoncé Leaves Rihanna Starstruck
It’s hard to believe that Rihanna attended her first major concert only six years ago, and now she’s performing at the same events with the stars she once looked up to.
The 21-year-old singer shared her first concert experience with iTunes. “My very first arena concert was Beyoncé/Alicia Keys/Missy Elliott [in 2004]. I think it was the ‘Ladies First’ tour,” she said.
Despite her bad seats, she will always remember that special night. “I was in like a nosebleed seat, but I was in tears. I could not believe that Beyoncé was right there, and Alicia Keys and Missy Elliott.”
Rihanna was in awe of the artists she now considers her peers. “I was a little starstruck. No, I was very starstruck, but it was so much fun. It was very inspiring and it motivated me so much.”

Quote
For Serena Williams, few things are as important to her as the music she walks out to before facing off against an opponent. It’s the one thing that really gets her going before a big match. So in an effort to find the perfect song to help her set things off, the ten-time Grand Slam champion has teamed up with Ludacris’s website WeMix.com to give aspiring musicians the chance to create the song she’ll use to take the court at the U.S. Open in New York City in August. Artists can submit their unique songs now for consideration (entrants can also submit their song through Williams’s own site, serenawilliams.com).
But before you rig up the Auto-Tune and get to work, know this: VIBE isn’t about to have you throwing a bunch of half-assed songs into the competition. This is Serena Williams, people! So we went straight to the source and asked the 27-year-old Women’s Tennis Association champ to fill in the blanks about her favorite songs, artists and albums. For all you aspiring songwriters (yeah, we know you’re tuning into VIBE.com), check out what she served up. Then, get in the lab and make something guaranteed to get Serena open at the Open.
The music I like is…Hip hop. But I like to go out to everything. I love pop. I love R&B. I’m a little bit of everything.
(...)
But if I’m really trying to get crazy, I put on… Beyoncé! She just has such hot songs. When I’m out and they play her record, it’s just like, “There you go!”
And since now you’re wondering if I can do the “Single Ladies” dance…Yeah, I can pretty much do it.

For many new artists, the first year after the release of their debut albums are filled with highlights. Getting into swanky parties, meeting some cool fellow artists, maybe flying first class for the first time.
One of the biggest highlights for Barbados-born beauty Shontelle, is getting to tour alongside one of music’s most adored superstars, and her idol, Beyonce. The 24-year-old singer, who found success with her irresistible single “T-Shirt,” opened for the Mighty B on her tour across Europe and the UK last spring.
“That changed my life,” Shontelle told Neon Limelight in a recent phone interview. “Just that feeling that you’ve been embraced by one of the biggest stars in the world, and not just her, but her entire team, that made me really feel like I’m [doing this] for a reason.
“Even when it feels like everything isn’t going the way you want, or it’s moving slow, or it’s come to a stop completely, you have an experience like touring with Beyonce and it reminds you of why you do this.”
Beyonce, who Shontelle describes as “an amazing human being,” made it a point to sit down and meet Shontelle to share some kind words. “She literally looked me in the eye and said ‘You are so beautiful. I see your videos on TV all the time… I hear your voice every night and [it's] incredible. I want you to work really hard because you’re gonna do so well.’ And I’m like ‘Beyonce is telling me this!? Are you serious right now?’”
She says touring with Beyonce was a once in a lifetime experience she made sure to pay close attention to in hopes of picking up some pointers. “I watched how she’s not afraid to experiment. She’s not afraid to try different types of music and different things, and I feel like that’s why her fanbase is so huge.
“I watched her perfectionism. She won’t even hide that. She’ll tell you ‘I am a perfectionist. You had better get this right or I will get mad.’ I watched her soundcheck, her rehearsals, hung out with all of the dancers, the stylists, and everybody has a story to tell about Beyonce.”
Being on the tour with Beyonce, she says, pushed her from just being a fan of the Grammy winning singer to “stan status.” “I can’t thank Beyonce enough. It really did change my life.”

She's got it all: She writes wonderful songs and is a great singer. She's fashion, she's cosmetics, she's in movies, she's multitalented, and she's nice. This is such an accolade-driven business; people get hyped so much they don't keep their feet on the ground. But she's done wonderful job with that. Her parents put the right thoughts in her mind. I do! I just find a lot of female music kind of boring unless it's got an infectious beat to it. That's why it's exciting what's happening in music right now. It's great to see so many different female artists headlining the Grammys and being the main acts. Lady Gaga and Pink and Beyonce and Rihanna, they're all doing interesting things and being recognized by people. There's something sort of ... I'm just not that into the sort of lazy rhythm of folk music. So if you throw a beat in there, it's a lot more captivating to me, somehow. It hits me and whatever makes me want to move, I get into it. It's not just hip-hop, there's some great female rock artists out there that I love. Juliana Hatfield, I love Feist, she's awesome.

She explains, "I hurt my hip, I bruised my bones. I was dancing on the treadmill when it was running.
"When I'm on the treadmill I like to do the iPod thing and everything like that and my favourite artist to exercise to is Beyonce - I love her and all of a sudden her song CRAZY IN LOVE comes on and I lost it.

It's great to see so many different female artists headlining the Grammys and being the main acts. Lady Gaga and Pink and Beyonce and Rihanna, they're all doing interesting things and being recognized by people. There's something sort of ...
