Your post has got me thinking why artists release deluxe editions anyway? Why not just release one (albeit long) body of work? I haven't listened to the deluxe tracks but everyone is praising them and I actually don't mind Red Flag or Naughty so they must be good

collectors want both editions
and they put some great songs on the deluxes so you buy them

But why do some albums have deluxe editions and others don't. For example, there's only one version of ARTPOP. Also, Rebel Heart's deluxe edition is usually referred as the "standard version" (both the cover and track list) Do you think labels purposefully put "great songs" on deluxe editions to encourage fans to buy them?

I don't understand why artists release deluxe editions, or even Target editions, in 2016. People will find a way to receive them. There are too many versions of this album, and really we just needed one (with all eighteen tracks of course!)

The deluxe tracks are really good! And I don't exactly hate Red Flag or Naughty, I just think that this album would get a better score if it would have been done as just a standard without those tracks.
