TBH I have the same issue with Mariah and MJ that I do with Madonna. Other than their most recent stuff, I can only really name one song in either's discography. Thriller and Hero.
Yeah, I only know a good amount of singles from Mariah and MJ, too, but I believe I've only listened to one full album from each. I do this with a lot of pre-2000s artists (except Britney, Spice Girls and small amount of others.) I just like to stick with music that's more modern, and if something's really old then I don't really care to go all the way back to those times and hear it. Plus I feel like singing back then was so different, as well as the quality, and a lot of songs sound like demos.
It might be a cultural thing though, for me it it goes .. Michael >>>> Mariah > Madonna in terms of memorability.
