Lol an album like Queen Of The Clouds would sound cringeworthy coming from a 30 y.o. Contrary to ATRL mentality, Roar is far more 30's friendly than singing about eating your dinner in your bathtub cause you were too wasted the night before to go to bed. But I love Tove Lo's figures of speech and Katy has been weak in that regard for a while so they should collaborate.

She was in her 20's, she's now in her 30'. That's how the media views it lol.

Either way, we all know critics wait for any and every little thing to drag her, so the last thing she needs in her next album is lyrics about alcohol and drugs. Unless you're an edgy, leather clad, dominatrix female like Beyonce, the music critics (mostly gay men) won't be here for your songs about alcohol etc.
And if there's anything the 1989 era should have taught you, it's how important word to mouth is when it comes to promotion.

So yes, since she's in her 30's she should start handling her career more strategically than she did in the PRISM era.

Madonna, Bey, P!nk, basically everyone successful over 30 is still singing about drugs sex and alcohol. Most of the GP don't even know she's 30 and no one outside of ATRL cares about the critics.

Says who? Why do you think those critics keep getting paid?

Of course no one cares about reviews when they're not in your face. But when it's a large campaign telling the world that you've just made the best masterpiece since the sun paired with radio friendly songs and a nice promo campaign (live promo - Decent interviews - Great appearances), don't be surprised that your album is smashing. Beyonce has earned the right (in the eyes of the critics) to sing about that since her image is not so girly. P!nk hasn't sung about alcohol in a while? Also, Madonna is hardly a good example to use.
