"Birthday" was mixed (in short form...same with "Dark Horse"). No idea if they'll make it. She'll have it all finalized really soon. They'll have to do another mix/medley and master for the final set once she's made up her mind. The mixes have back-up vocals, but the audio board will include a TA-1VP and she'll be singing.
Happy Birthday ft Pharrell confirmed?
So annoyed that you ruined my dreams of She's So Creepy emerging as the love child of Hollaback Girl and UR So Gay to dominate the Super Bowl though.
My guess is that she's uploading the performances so that when she's inevitably youtubed after the performance, people will see how much she's improved.
"Birthday" isn't confirmed, but it's one of the eight that were mixed with her band, Baz, and the usual suspects. I guess they're either waiting on the cover (or it will be completely live? doubt that's the case, though).
The new ones are great because you can blend a pre-recorded vocal that will kick in solo and auto-correct and automate volume levels when needed. It's not like old real-time auto-tune that was entirely too noticeable and depended on MIDI notes plugged in or just guessed the note intended.
edited: A LOT of her "good" performances are autotuned unfortunately. It's the truth.
For example: U-EXPRESS and her Toronto Mod Club Acoustic performances.
At least she stopped using live pitch correction on tour.

A lot of them, yes. You just have to listen closely.
I'm not saying she can't sing, her vocals are good but they are helped IMMENSELY by a small level of autotune. In theory if she polished her technique just a fair bit more, she could be great, consistently.
If you didn't know, the entire MTV Unplugged album is edited.
Also she used to use live pitch correction during CDT.Her vocals sounded a bit plastic-y... imo they
would've sounded just as good without it.
Other performances that were autotuned are TOTGA @ X Factor, Firework @ VSFS, etc. A lot of performances from TD era.
This era she's completely eliminated the autotune from PWT and most of her performances but that doesn't stop some networks from editing her vocals afterwards (U-Express and Mod Club Acoustic for example.)
Anyway she's improved a bunch... like her Crossroads episode wasn't edited and she sounded amazing. She is getting more confident with herself and I love that it's genuine and not just reflected in her music. Her lesser makeup etc all reflect that.

Oh, but the subtle live pitch correction should make a return at the SB tbh. Just as her safety net.
I have no idea what she used on the CD tour, but I helped with the post-edit of "Birthday" for the Billboard Awards...minimal melodyne (which can't be used live).
By the way, probably no Grammy performance....won't go into details.
