Gaga was to blame here. It was all round a messy episode. Odd writing, odd direction, strange monologues that didn't suit certain characters, and visually the episode didn't look appealing apart from a couple of scenes. You're going to come for Gaga when all around tonight's delivery was almost comedic? It's as if they've been told to play their characters this way in the 20's flashbacks. I mean Mr. March almost feels like a parody, as if he says something tacky and I almost wait for him to look at the camera and give that smirk. And that alone has nothing to do with Evan Peters, it's the writing. I mean lines like "Something tells me you're going to miss your train." and the girls in the flashback in the funeral hall, and then the whole scene with Gaga and Finn and the girl in black. Also speaking about the girl in black when they came back to present day, and she said the went on a rant about how they've become monstrous, I mean their was no real conviction, and the writing didn't sound right coming out of her mouth. Didn't love Finn's accent either, everything happened so fast, and in some ways made the episode almost feel rushed. And then John finding a clue by dropping a piece of paper, and him just knowing thats where he needs to go to find the killer, the flashbacks on the train with Finn and that other vampire guy was just so face value. Like nothing this episode had depth, and even when it tried it came off as cliche and over exaggerated for no apparent reason, just because it's "AHS", but in reality if we journey back to Murder House, and Asylum I think they tried to tell a real story, with real conviction and meaning. I mean wtf at
marcy's
death? Like why...

So much blood this season, and a lot of it has been meaningless, this is a great example of that. I also kinda didn't want to see Gaga's ass in the show without a thong for whatever reason.. I know we've seen it before, I just find the placement of bums all of this season to be really have become tiresome.
I'm only analyzing this further because I think it's unfair to place Gaga at the blame. This season has been quite the improvement from Freak Show, and even Coven in some regards, but for me this episode would've fit in with Coven and Devil's Night was like a Freak Show reject episode.
Although without those lashings their were also some great moments this episode. I exceptionally loved them dancing the tango, or whatever it was, I thought it was strange at first, but the way it was shot was really beautiful, and for some reason it reminded me of like Death Becomes Her for whatever reason, like the comedic darkness of it. I also think the little girl did a great job with what she was given, I loved her pupil and how it was like pulsing. I also liked seeing Mr March sit down to dinner with The Countess. I think that scene was really shot nicely, and the way it panned back and you say them sitting at either sides of the table, it looked beautiful. I also kinda liked Kathy talking about the bleached ass hairs, but heres another example of the show having humor, but in this case it worked well.
And yes those eyebrows were dreadful. And so was that brunette wig.
