1 1997 Titanic $600,788,188
2 2008 The Dark Knight $533,345,358
3 1977 Star Wars Ep. IV: A New Hope $460,998,007
4 2009 Avatar $445,768,203
Just under $155 million from Titanic. Safe to say it'll at least beat out The Dark Night in about a month.

Yes. Considering last weekend was it's first large drop (-26%) and it's making less during the weekdays. For it to pass The Dark Night next weekend, it'd need to sell another $50 million this weekend, and $30+ million next weekend.
So about a month, ala 3-4 weeks which isn't far from your theory.

It's projected to do about 43mil this weekend*. (Friday to Monday I think. Pretty sure they grouped it because of a public holiday?)
The lowest weekday gross to date it 4.698mil**. Imma say about 2.5mil - 3mil next week for the weekdays. (Tuesday to Thursday)
That makes about 50.5 - 52mil by next weekend, leaving a ~29mil goal. Very doable.
If it doesn't pass The Dark Night after next weekend, I'd say mid-week is highly likely, the weekend a definite. Based on this I'd say 1.5 - 2.5 weeks from now.

In 3-4 weeks it will be closing in on the no.1 spot (Titanic) it it has not already passed it. This week, Monday - Thursday it has made $20 million. Next week it should make another $15 million during the week, so it won't have to have as large a gross during the weekends as you have said to pass the Dark Knight. It only needs another $83 million to pass the Dark Knight now.

It's inevitable, but Avatar definitely will surpass Titanic. It's currently #3 on the all-time chart.
DAMN IT!
At least it won't surpass Gone with the Wind, which is #1 after adding in inflation. Avatar is #36 on the chart. (Titanic #6)
