I don't really want to fight anyone here, and I think I made clear that I personally really like the way Christina complete a song which I love, but on this specific point, it's not merely that Maroon 5 are on (a very successful actually) tour at the moment, and that derivatively promoted the song out of that.
Any boost in MLJ's sales have happened every single time Maroon 5 promoted the song on tv shows and they did it alone: Today Show, the results of AGT, and most recently the NFL stint.
It's clear that the way they perform the song by themselves is appealing enough to boost sales to their number one(s), because yes, the song is still their type of sound, although more dancey now than soulful.
That doesn't cancel the fact Christina is a wonderful addition to the power of the song, but to claim she is the main force is simply dismissed by facts.
I'm happy the song will be added in her discography, and I would be happy for both her and Maroon 5 if they were to grab a pop Grammy collaboration for it (only real threat is Amy + Tony Bennet, because the other big duets of the season are RAP /Hip Hop songs).
Christina is a Voice that is so rare and beautiful, to hate on her is bad for music.
But also to speak as if she wrote the song or was the focus of it... won't be a benefit for her in the long run, because it will increase a distaste for her in the general public.
Still, about the whole MLJ debate, it's safe to say the happiest one is Adam, who doesn't only perform the song, but who has written it along Benny Blanco (but he's the main songwriter, credited in both words and music), since the only one out of the lot nabbing MONEY out of it.
Don't hate me for saying these words... it just escaped from my chest.
On a different note... I'm positive Paradise could do amazingly in the chart, especially if, as I hope, Coldplay will appear in X Factor too.
I hate singing competitions but I love when they promote bands I love (not coherent, I fear... still what I feel).
Any AI news on that?
