I just realized that my interactions with non blacks (well, white people) is very small lol.

I went out on a date with this Puerto Rican, and somehow we got on the discussion of our families... During our conversation he says "wait, so you're not mixed? I thought you were half puerto rican or Dominican (neither of which I look like). He seemed so disappointed lol... oh well my black ass is still *flawless.

Then in school, a girl asked me on several occasions if I was Jamaican because "I have high cheekbones." When I responded "no" after the 3rd time she asked, another girl interrupted and said "so you just black, black." Whatever the **** that means

I hate having to explain to people both of my parents are black. Why do you even care?

Some people can actually tell the difference. They can tell what country a white or black person came from and can kinda guesstimate where a person comes from based on the average look of the country. Of course there people who overlap but it was cool this guy who is into anthropology was explaining it to me.

I don't see the problem with it if it's not coming from a place of "Oh you look too pretty to be this." You know like how people always saying asians don't look alike and will point out the differences but won't do the same for white and black people for some reason.
