The overall album vision is bland, and there's a big chance the only motivation in making the music was to sound current, so I agree at the lack of ambition.

BUT the production is current, and the melodies are workable so as a result you get some decent songs. And since it's very samey (I did lose track on when the songs changed lol) it's naturally cohesive.

The album is decent, mostly by accident. But it's decent. And I use at least 3 songs.

I think "cohesive" is a term we tend to throw around a lot.
Lemonade is a cohesive album, you can hear different genre inspirations throughout but it always follows the storyline Beyoncé created, Glory is simply reductive, that doesn't make it cohesive or even cohesive by accident.

it's beyond her voice being weak, the vocal production is tragic, like traaagic. it's unlistenable in half the songs. The girls you mentioned generally have competent effects on their vocals in the studio and are FAR more emotive. Like compare the emotion on Pendulum to anything on gloryhole... I dont think it sounds very current either.. outside of a trendchasing song or two
