To be a success? As Nicole said, the budget it how much it cost to make + marketing, advertising, etc. So after that, it would need to make around $50 mill to be a SUCCESS, not mediocre or flop.

And where did I say Battleship is not a flop. Obviously $26 mill is pitiful. But people shouldnt act like Cadillac Records and Fighting Temptations arent flops.

Pretty good, besides the main character she was the 2nd person who appeared the most in the film.
Her acting was better than expected, stale during the more serious scenes but amazing during the action scenes.

Why the heck would it need to make $50 million on a $12 million budget?

Anyway, those movies are flops, but they had small budgets.

$24 million is twice the budget. Not $50 million

& smaller films don't need $100 million in marketing & promotion, which is why blockbusters need to make back even more (twice the budget). They're both flops, but to say CR needed $50 million to break even is dumb. $30 million would be considered good.
