Videos were* her strength. I liked Applauses at first, but the more I watched it the more I felt like she was belittling me as a fan. Everything was too obvious when it came to the art references and it literally felt like she was going "Look at this little monsters. Isn't art fun!"

I cringe now when I watch it. I hope DWUW slays but I'm not hyping myself or getting my hopes up. The costume and set look like it'll be cool but the description makes it seem like it'll be the exact opposite.

The whole point of ARTPOP is "putting art in the front", so the references are meant to be obvious. I love the music & performances this era, they're perfect for me. The only thing that I don't like is the message of the era, or at least what Gaga has been trying to do since the era started. The whole "we need to be artistic revolutionaries" as fans and stuff kinda bothers me a little because I could care less tbh.

Judas is probably her last really good video. Colorful, she looked good, short, video made sense and had a cohesive storyline, not too long etc.

Laurieann her talent because we all know it would have been a mess if Gaga directed it.

Sure, but the Applause video is literally her pandering art to the viewer. Like, there are a billion ways she could have executed this. The Koons ball has been in everything yet it still is not as abrasive as the Applause video. I partially blame it being filmed by photographers but the fact that everytime she had a costume change/set change she did something "silly" to the camera is insulting. The knife in the mouth, the little claws in her dead marilyn get-up, the clown make-up, the venus look with her on the floor are all interesting ideas executed amateurishly. The better parts of the video were when she was in the black cap.

For the most part. I still disagree with you on Artpop though. I think it's a great pop album that just isn't clicking with the GP. Whether that is because Gagas at the helm or because of the music itself, is still yet to be completely found out.

I think her work is of quality. ARTPOP has some of the best songs of her career. Some of her fashion has been so ON POINT this era, her wigs look gorgeous most of the time and her singing has been on point most of the time too. Did you see the SMAP x SMAP performance? Did you see the AMA performance?

If people aren't here for it, I don't see why they waste their time on the internet.

I kind of wish she had used this album to be as experimental as possible. DWUW, Sexxx Dreams, G.U.Y, and Gypsy are all TOO good of songs to be anchored down by an artsy concept. They're perfectly written pop songs imo and deserve to be on a less "loud" album.
