Man, I just recorded 2 versions of the same song and I sent it to my A&R. I SWEAR if she doesn't like neither of them, Idk wtf I'm gonna do. I'm gonna quit music and be homeless and a drug dealer
Lol, my verses for my last round was Rap but the chorus was Pop And I added "oh oh oh oh o-o-o-o-oh" in the pre-chorus to please the judges. Lol
Just reminding you that this is a competition about lyrics, and including "oh oh oh oh o-o-o-o-oh" is certainly not what the judges are looking for in terms of outstanding lyricism. Just thought I'd point that out in case you were getting the wrong idea.
*deletes second half of chorus which is just oh's*
ddd Huga you've always been the exception. Maybe the judges this year are different but I'm pretty sure that they're generally advised against. The whole point of having the "ooh oohs" in pop songs is when writers come up with a catchy melody and they can't necessarily fix lyrics to it so they just add in the "ooh oohs" and it sounds great, but when you're just looking at the lyrics you can't see the melody as such so it doesn't really work out and all you're left with is a bunch of filler.

Then how come catchy pop songs have "oh oh oh oh oh's"
Alright fine, I'll ditch the party songs and go for more poetic sad thematic songs.
They don't mind them as long it doesn't distract from the whole song/it's done tastefully.
I used them once in round 1 but not doing it again. However I am returning to pop this round so I hope the judges will appreciate my melodies (as usual), execution (as usual), and improved lyrical skill (I actually used a dictionary this time!)
Yeah, it's not something to worry about at the early stages of the competition for sure, but it's R4 now, so it might be something to think about either using sporadically or not at all. If the majority of your chorus is "oh oh oh" that's probably not a good idea.
