UAN - Album is too twinky for me Bur i've downloaded TMH and it's a lot of better! I deleted few sons tho like Little Thins Little Things and Over Again are horrible. The lyrics... I don't like this ed sheeran hipster sphere tbh. I believe that Ziall are actually boyfriends. Niall is my fave (i'm gay), i love everything on him.. I wanna hug and **** him and his legs! Zayn is my second fave and the rest are ugly and horrid and so are their voices

What an entrance.
Glad to see someone who hates Little Things & Over Again as much as me.

Summer Love it good, but I have a hard time seeing it smashing.
I used to like the idea of Rock Me as a single, but I don't think so anymore. None of their other singles seem to have broad appeal. C'Mon C'Mon is decent but it is virtually the same formula as Kiss You, which was a massive flop.
I don't even know at this point.
Anyways I am off to bed <3

I could see Heart Attack or I Would being the third single. But I have to listen a few more times and read the lyrics to get a good feel for whether it's a good summer single. And I also just realized that most midtempos have to be rock solid to appeal during the summer radio (poor Dark Side ). You also pointed out that it's crucial they pick a solid third single since the second flopped. Man, this is tough.
Yeah, you're right. In the end though, I think their options are pretty limited which is kind of an paradox to a stan like me. Solid album even though it's not built like an album full of singles like Rihanna is.
Heh, night. I need to get some sleep before next week but I can't stop being a night owl.

I take it you're new. Welcome!
UAN kind of aged badly for me, yeah, but it's fairly solid for a freshman album. I don't know, as much as I like to ship, I never really got that vibe.

One more post.
I really don't see Heart Attack as the next single. Every once in a while I see people stan for it, but I don't think the fanbase itself likes it that much overall. I Would is ok, but too cheesy if they are looking to get radio to start playing them again.
....and yeah. From day 1 I didn't see any sure first hit singles on the album. I had hoped I would be wrong, but it turns out I wasn't.
(Poor Dark Side)
I think they are big enough right now to absorb the hit that 3 flop singles in a row dealt them. However, they MUST have hits on their next album or they won't even be relevant by album #4. I am scared that their management just sees them as a cash cow, and they don't want to do ANYTHING to jeopardize that...... so they could continue with the same formula for 3 more albums hoping to cash in on teenage girl's. They may not even TRY to make them radio artists.
I hope that is not the case, but it is my fear.

Hmm, yeah. I'm listening to TMH again and my inner stan is screaming. Flawless. But still, I admit that it's difficult picking a single out of the bunch; it's mostly just me being a stan.
Agreed. But the trouble with that is it's basically a double-edged sword, in the sense they need to overload on generic hit producers like Dr Luke (for example, not saying I want him in particular) which kind of drives a certain image they may not break from. I see what you mean, I wonder if it's possible for them to draw some inspiration from the Breakaway era (one solid non-leading single to open a bigger audience to a smash hit; Breakaway to Since U Been Gone).
And the other possibility is that they could simply buy out their contract and go to another label willing to promote the singles properly and get the necessary great songwriters and producers for a solid album. The third album is where I expect to see the most growth in their artistic vision, to be honest. I'm hoping for the best.

I understand what Diamond and Mr. Waffle are saying with the radio-friendly music, but I hope that they don't trade in their signature style for some radio-fodder purely to keep their name out there. Their individuality is extremely important (to me, at least). I hated boy bands before One Direction came along, and that alone proves to me that they have something so special about them that is lacking in every other boy band.

I do too. It's one reason I'm so dubious of generic hit producers because it kind of dilutes the uniqueness of the artist. I'm kind on the fence on how delicate that balance needs to be, since it's a difficult thing to do. I am definitely going to fully support all of their albums, I'm mostly thinking about their overall longevity. Especially since, and I don't like how the digital age changed the face of music on this, singles sell albums in a greater disproportional amount than say 2007. And the current economy is no less harder these days too.

I agree with everything you said, but especially the emphasised portion of your post. Sometimes working with "the hit factory" turns out really well, and the result is nothing less of awesome. But a lot of the time - too often, in my humble opinion - an artist's personality is sucked out of the song, leaving a lifeless shell of a track purely designed for financial gain.
I understand that One Direction are huge money makers (in the label's eyes), but at least most of the time they have personality and it doesn't feel so overly contrived and redundant. It really doesn't sound like "we're here to take your money". It genuinely feels like a group of young men acting like normal dudes and enjoying life.

Ugh, tell me about it. Kelly always said that she couldn't stand listening to her older albums because of how overproduced it is, so I get what you mean. Although I'm stanning for that one amazing song to give 1D the necessary push for radio support (just enough to support their singles because without those, the album flops and it affects their standing with their label). If we get something like a non-leading great single then a smash, and couple of a very moderate success, I'll be happy with the era.
But it's like you said, it has be without sacrificing what makes them a unique band (especially one that came out successful after their start on the X Factor). It's going to be mostly about the right material and right timing, imo. No midtempos/ballads during the summer, for example.
That said, I used to stan for Harry so hard, those eyes. Then after I fell out of stan mode for abit, now Zane is perfection.

Zayn*.
Keep in mind that even without these "radio" hits, they're selling more than enough albums for this day and age. But yes, they really need to get a song that radio will grab onto with both hands so that they actually have that to fall back on in a few years time. They'll figure it out, they always do.

@ me misspelling. Flop stan tbh.
Yeah, I forgot that part. It's most the transition from a teenage boy band into a respectable AC/HAC band that I'm talking about. But they'll snatch it, as I firmly believe now, tbh.
