Just joined a gym this week, I meet with a personal trainer twice a week, and will do that training for a year. First few sessions is him teaching me how each equipment works, and having me try them. I never really knew how much different machines there are to help strengthen different parts of the body: hamstrings, muscles, abdomen, etc. So far it's been a really good experience and the gym is open a lot during the week. I think it will definitely help.
Right now, I'm at 181, which is not what I want to be at, so I think this gym will help lower my weight.
Hey everyone, I've been working out for the past month and I've definitely seen results especially in my arms and chest, but I need to start working on my stomach. What are some ways to get it really flat and toned? (I'm not going to a gym)
Ive been doing squats and my thighs are too thick. I feel very self conscious when i wear pants now because my thighs ***** out.
My upper body is a constant challenge sometimes it feels like i dont have control of my shoulders i try to do dumbell curl ups but my wrists literally feel like they are ripping apart. Any advice for wrist health?

Are you talking about bicep curls? It sounds like you might be using too much weight.
Your wrists shouldn't be moving around much when doing them. Wrist flexion and extension use your forearm muscles, not your biceps, so if you're working on curls and using your wrist you're cheating your bicep out of doing all the work.
Yes, though they come with disadvantages. Barbell exercises are the very best for strength training because they enable you to use more weight. There comes a point at which using 150lb dumbbells just isn't realistic -- or safe for that matter.
But if you're not interested in becoming huge or lifting beyond 300lbs, dumbbells are great.
