It has been a good year for Starships, I was looking for numbers on Gaon and made this :
- SISTAR19, Gone Not Around Any Longer (1,723,704) Peak #1
- Give It To Me (1,486,661) Peak #1
- Soyou, Stupid In Love (1,239,877) Peak #1
- Hyorin, One Way Love (714,094) Peak #1
- Soyou, Some (522,541) Peak #1
- Hyorin, Goodbye (676,444) Peak #1
Isn't SM worth over a billion USD? I am sure they could purchase Loen and Starship.
Frightening. Watch them systematically buy up the entire entertainment industry of S. Korea over the next ten years, bypassing any existing monopoly laws, and eventually rename the country S(M) Korea.
Is anyone actually here for Soyou, or is it because she's #1 over GG? If so, ya'll thirst is showing.

Oh I agree I'm so pissed at SM for ****ing up this badly. In regards to your previous post too I would be here for SNSD getting another comeback/mini this year just to 'start fresh' in a sense and get themselves back on track.
But idk, YG have messed around with the fans to such an extent that it's hard to believe the album is still coming, and not in a good way. Everything from ILY to a random CL solo to the "four tracks in four months" and they're not even on the album (which is good for us, more music, but it's messy). Maybe I'm being too cynical but we've reached a point where it feels like YG is releasing to "get it over with" rather than a genuine showstopping release and I don't like that.
I'm sure the album will be good though and I'm trying to go into it with high hopes, the teasers do look pretty cool but the reputation from YG's side going into this release just leaves room for a lot of doubt. 2NE1 were my first k-pop loves and the messing around of the past 18 months turned me off them a little. I really do want to fall in love with them again, though.
Yass, setting themselves back on track is exactly what I was thinking. A do over is needed to make up for this shambles. I don't even expect this from nugus, let alone a top tier act...
YG pissed me off SO much. I have had moments like you where I wasn't even excited anymore, where I thought 2NE1 were over and I had to accept it. But this time feels different for some reason. It's like over the last week or two, it's finally happening and not a crappy single release, but an album that has effort behind it
I think the fact the flops ain't on it, the MV's budget is so big and the teasers looking good says otherwise to YG "getting it over with", because he coulda done a Gummy and never had them release anything when you think about it! I thought Falling In Love and DYLM were much more throwaways than any other release. The MV's were half assed (bad beach green screen and DYLM's budget) and the songs sounded like afterthoughts.
I can totally relate to what you're feeling. That was me for all of last year's releases. I was tired of YG's games and it really affected how I felt about the group. But I'm happy this has a sense of getting on with it. No more "4 months of singles and THEN an album". It's the album and THE single, like it always should have been since ILY. I feel like they're back. Watch the teaser a few times and imagine the actual MV
I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER. SLAY US 2NE1!

Like why did she need surgery? Had YG not heard of makeup???

I know this is half joke half serious but I can seriously see this happening in ten years or fifteen.

All the while none of their acts release anything.
Gives me f(x) + Hitler teas.
Bom was already pretty to begin with I am saddened by what has happened to her face.
And I am a casual Sistar fan so I am here for Soyu. I am really proud of her and this shows that she has more potential to sell than Hyorin.
And about YG he is the most unprofessional man on earth but he seems to be keeping his word this era. I find it funny how this go round that SM ****ed up badly. We all thought the MV being damaged was a joke due to them being so professional and airtight.
The fact they rushed the release of the mini with no MV shows that the MV is indeed damaged.
And since it has not turned up yet means they will re-shoot again or will scrap the MV entirely.
This will give YG an advantage especially since SNSD will not promote until March 8th.

I was kind of being semi-serious but I honestly don't think it's possible. Even if they had the money, a.) I imagine there are SOME monopoly laws. I would hope. b.) I don't think they'd be able to manage the entire entertainment empire...effectively. People would lose interest since everything would be run by one company - the fact that there would be no competition would make everything rather boring.
Plus, SM can't last forever no matter what, so they will have to decline eventually.
The fact that this is being explored as an actual possibility though is a testament to their empire.

Hopefully they have a monopoly law similar to the west.
SM already swallowed up one label they could very well aim for another.
Good point about longevity nothing lasts forever as you said but you never know how things turn out.
