In Europe, how big are the MTV EMAs? Are they the size of the VMAs? Do they have a large impact on the charts (The semi-related part) a la X-Factor / VMAs? (Performers and nominated songs that is)
Thanks in advance.

No, they definitely wouldn't have the same impact on the UK charts as the VMA's have on the US charts, but I'm unsure with regard to the rest of Europe. I think the location of the ceremony is one of the main factors in determining how influential it is, UK viewers are more likely to view it if it's in a British city because there would be more press coverage etc. I went through some chart archives to see what effect the performances from the 2008 EMA's had on the chart. (They were in Liverpool on November 6 that year).
Performers:
* Katy Perry — "I Kissed a Girl" opening act
* Beyoncé — "If I Were a Boy"
* Take That — "Greatest Day"
* The Killers — "Human"
* Kanye West — "Love Lockdown"
* Estelle and Kanye West — "American Boy"
* The Ting Tings — "That's Not My Name"
* Kid Rock — "So Hott" / "All Summer Long"
* Duffy — "Mercy"
* Pink — "So What"
* Katy Perry — "Hot n Cold" closing act
