"Triumphant" garnered mixed reviews from music critics. Amy Sciarretto for PopCrush was complimentary of the song and awarded it four stars out of a possible five, writing "late summer has found its low ridin' jam." She continued to praised Carey's vocals, stating that "she uses her best asset — that gorgeous voice — to her benefit, but thankfully, she's not overdoing it and shattering glass with her mega octaves." [22] Julianne Escobedo Shepherd for Spin wrote that the track is "a clever bit of marketing genius" as Carey opted to reveal it mid-Olympics, but criticized the inclusion of Rick Ross and Meek Mill for occupying too much of the track's running time.[23] Sal Cinquemani for Slant Magazine was critical of the song, writing that it is "easily the worst lead single (possibly the worst single, period) of her two-decade-plus career."[21] Romeo's Corner was enthusiastic going on to say "This is by far her best lead single since "It's Like That", it is catchy, inspirational and anthemic and may have the ability to cross over to other radio formats."
a lot of critics love the song then there are some that dont. she always have mixed reviews though
Why is she not releasing the other two versions yet, Im still waiting for a rap free Main edit until I can say I'm in love with the single...right now I like it but the different versions just highlight whats wrong with the other versions.
