Fun fact: a write in candidate has to register as such in a given state. Bernie is registered as a write-in candidate in ZERO states. If 90% of the electorate wrote his name in, not a single one of those votes would count.

I don't know which county you're from in the Metroplex but Dallas County went blue in 2012. If a few more counties in the area could turn blue, it'll really signal the shift in the state here. I would love if Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, and Hood Counties all turned blue this time too

In the California primary there were anti-Trump protest votes, but if they had all/other things filled in we counted the Senator and referendum columns to the tally and just noted the protests as "other". There were like 10 of those 'others'. There were also blanks in that column and we counted the ballot. As long as only one choice was picked in each column and some boxes were ticked, it was okay.

Are your boyfriend and his mom liberals who just don't like Hillary? If so, try telling them that voting for Hillary won't help her at all (given that you live in a guaranteed red state), but Democrats will be encouraged to put effort into winning KY in the future (with a different candidate) if they see support for the Democratic candidate in this election.

The more support Hillary has in red states, the more shook the GOP will be in future elections.
