These are my Top 10 songs of the year but never would I pretend that they're the best.

(which is more or less saying pretty much anyone would agree with ME, not you, and a completely unsubtle attempt to imply that I'm not "familiar" with the artist) and "I'm just trying to see music from a non-opinionated perspective which I think is very possible to do. " (it's not) and refusing to admit they're pretentious nonsense. Music is NOT objective, and you started this whole conversation because I voiced my OPINION that Ultraviolence is better than St. Vincent's untitled. Turning it into "well, the FACT is that St. Vincent is better!!!" is pretentious as ****.

And neither St. Vincent nor Lana's album explores "something new and uncharted" in the musical world so I don't know where the **** you're going with that.

Enjoyment of music is 100% subjective. The key is to be 100% objective when expressing your 100% subjective opinion. Few people can do it. If you think two albums are equally good but one has a 40 MC score and the other a 90 MC score, you'll probably praise the 90 one more. Or the other way around if you like to troll/be a contrarian.

And that doesn't even factor in that your actual enjoyment of music also depends on what is more socially acceptable to you.

hands on me and to a lesser extent be my baby and why try are all hits waiting to happen as well. i don't want her releasing too many singles tho. her midas touch as the current it girl will send anything top 10 and i don't want her oversaturating the charts.
